At Friendly Hills Pediatrics, we offer lactation support services in the form of expert breastfeeding education, return to work feeding plans, exclusive pumping support, and advice for new moms. We believe that “fed is best,” and support all moms no matter how they choose to nourish their children.
Newborn Care
While Dr. Muñoz specializes in pediatric care for children of all ages, she has a special interest in providing supportive care for newborns and their parents. Dr. Muñoz offers comprehensive newborn well checks that include early interventions and preventative care as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), as well as lactation consultation services. Dr. Muñoz has over three combined years of personal breastfeeding and lactation experience and has had additional training in human lactation, outside of her training as a pediatrician.
Dr. Muñoz has hospital privileges at two hospitals where she can see your newborn baby in the nursery after birth. If you give birth at PIH Whittier Hospital or Whittier Hospital Medical Center, let your nurse and our office know as soon as possible so we can make arrangements to be there.
As a pediatric hospitalist with Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Muñoz has cared for thousands of newborns in the hospital and in the clinic. She can’t wait to meet your precious little one!
Well-Child Care
Friendly Hills Pediatrics offers well-child care visits for newborns, infants, children, adolescents, and young adults, per the recommended schedule by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). At a well-child care visit, patients can expect to receive scheduled immunizations, nutrition and safety advice, and any necessary medical services. During well checks we also perform important developmental and mental health screenings.
Adolescent Care
At Friendly Hills Pediatrics, we love teenagers! We understand teens are going through a special time in their growth and development. Some changes and experiences can be difficult, but going to the doctor is an important part of making sure teenagers stay healthy. In our practice, we answer any questions teens have about puberty, their body, and their development. We partner with the teen and his or her caregiver to address everyone’s concerns in a confidential and respectful manner.
Young Adult Care
We are a pediatric office; however, we will not close our doors after your 18th birthday. Pediatricians regularly care for college students and young adults until the patient and doctor both feel a transition to adult medicine is best. We will help you with the transfer of care when that time comes.
We accept all major insurance plans.
If you have a high-deductible health plan, or we are “out of network” with your plan, ask about our “Direct Care” membership. Your child will receive unlimited office visits, with superior access, for a reasonable monthly fee.
Our modern office services means that families will enjoy easy access to their child’s health information via the Patient Portal, streamlined communication with our staff via the Spruce App, and an up-to-date and personalized approach to health care.
